Assistant Inspector Roads III (4 Posts)

The role of the Assistant Inspector Roads III (4 Posts) reports directly to the Engineer and involves supervising road works, preparing work programmes, gathering data on road inventory, assisting in preparing tender documents, and conducting annual traffic counts.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting in supervision of all road construction and maintenance works.
• Assisting in preparation and maintenance of site records and other road work records.
• Collecting data on road inventory for use in preparing roadwork programmes and cost estimates in liaison with the supervisor.
• Assisting in the preparation of draft progress reports for construction and maintenance works.
• Conducting annual traffic count.
• Assisting in conduct of road reserve inspections.
• Manning of axle load control monitoring systems.
• Collecting, compiling, and analyzing all data necessary for appraisal of road works to reconcile the available resources with the planned and contracted scope of works.
• Undertake quality control of contracted works on site.
• Performing any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

For appointment to this position, the ideal candidate must:

1. Have a Diploma in Civil Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
2. Be registered by the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board as a certified engineering technician.
3. Be a member of the Institution of Engineering Technologists and Technicians of Kenya.
4. Have proficiency in computer applications.
