Role Overview
The Building QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring all building works comply with approved specifications, contract requirements, applicable standards, quality management systems, and health, safety, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control Planning
- Develop and implement Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans.
- Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality records.
- Coordinate laboratory and field testing of construction materials.
Inspections & Compliance
- Inspect building materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities.
- Conduct routine site inspections and quality audits.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and monitor corrective and preventive actions until close-out.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, EBK, NCA, OSHA, NEMA, and other statutory requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Verify contractor quality documentation before approvals and payment certifications.
- Prepare quality reports, inspection registers, and project handover documentation.
- Support snagging, commissioning, and defect liability inspections.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities on quality matters.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, or Building Engineering.
- Registered Graduate/Professional Engineer with EBK.
- NCA registration is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in QA/QC for building construction projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of FIDIC contracts is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of quality inspection and testing procedures.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and MS Project.
