The Autocad Designer role involves developing, preparing, and reviewing detailed CAD drawings and specifications for projects, specifically focusing on construction design including light gauge steel structures and related products. The designer works closely with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and strict turnaround times for client proposals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed Auto CAD, Archi CAD drawings and specifications for projects, ensuring all designs meet project requirements and specifications.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to gather and clarify design requirements and specifications.
- Review and revise designs based on feedback from team members and clients, ensuring timely updates and adjustments.
- Identify design challenges and propose effective engineering solutions.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Contribute to design improvements and innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that the proposals for the clients meet the agreed turnaround time of 24 hours for roof cover, gutters & ceiling boards BQs (Bill of Quantities) and 48 hours for Light gauge steel BQs.
- Support the Project’s Supervisor in carrying out site inspection and measurements.
- Peer review light gauge steel structures design.
- Prepare light gauge steel and other BDL product quotations.
- Represent the Company in technical site meetings with clients and consultants on a need basis.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
A Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or any other related field.
Experience
1-2 years of prior work experience in technical drafting and construction design.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Working knowledge of Auto CAD, Archi CAD, or any other relevant design software.
- Ability to take site measurements.
- Knowledge of FRAMECAD is an added advantage.
- Ability to undertake structural designs.
