Madison Group Limited is a locally owned financial services holding company that specializes in Insurance and wealth management services. We are seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join our Kakamega Branch. This role is responsible for processing underwriting transactions, assessing risks, and providing exceptional service to our clients and intermediaries.
Key Responsibilities
Processing of underwriting transactions such as new businesses, renewals, and endorsements.
Processing and issuance of motor certificates, valuation letters, cover notes, and yellow cards.
Advising on, processing, and updating policies as per valuation reports.
Underwriting and processing work allocated from the immediate supervisor and ensuring all debits are put through in the correct month to facilitate premium collection.
Assisting clients in identifying products that suit their needs in line with insurance principles.
Preparing and issuing cancellation notices in case of non-payment of premium for specified covers.
Preparation and issuance of renewal notices sixty days before the renewal date.
Following up on renewals to ensure retention targets are met.
Assisting in claims handling and the preparation and issuance of quotations.
Attending to all telephone enquiries by clients and intermediaries, providing clarifications and guidance where necessary.
Liaising with other departments on matters related to work and inquiries that point towards a better working environment.
Liaising with intermediaries, brokers, and agents to solve problems and ensure efficient service delivery.
Assisting in reconciliation by debiting all risk notes for Corporate, Branch, and Bancassurance sections.
Assisting in preparing loss ratios and risk reviews.
Preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on renewals and cancellations for the Supervisor.
Any other duties as allocated from time to time.

Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills.
Technical competence in insurance products.
Experience and Knowledge Required
Up to (1) year of relevant experience.
Basic knowledge of regulations by AKI and IRA.
Computer literate in MS Office and other office applications.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
Good progress in professional qualification in Insurance (IIK).
