Africa Management Solutions Limited (AMSOL) is looking for an Assistant Risk & Compliance Manager to support the implementation and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk management (ERM) and compliance framework. This role involves conducting enterprise-wide risk assessments, identifying emerging risks across operational, financial, and strategic dimensions, and ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory requirements such as AML/CFT and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) guidelines. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the corporate risk register and providing analytical support to management and board committees.
Key Responsibilities
Framework Implementation: Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk management and compliance framework.
Risk Assessment: Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments and identify emerging operational, financial, compliance, and strategic risks.
Reporting: Prepare periodic risk management reports, dashboards, and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reports for management review.
Risk Tools: Maintain and update the corporate risk register and risk management tools.
Policy Development: Support the development and review of risk management policies, procedures, and operational manuals.
Operational Checks: Conduct operational risk assessments for new products, systems, partnerships, and business processes.
Credit Monitoring: Monitor credit risk exposures and support portfolio risk mitigation initiatives.
Stress Testing: Participate in credit and liquidity stress testing exercises and prepare analytical reports.
Transaction Review: Review transactions and operational activities to identify high-risk or suspicious transactions.
AML/CFT Compliance: Support the implementation and monitoring of AML, KYC, and CFT compliance requirements and report suspicious activities in line with regulatory requirements.
Operational Resilience: Coordinate process mapping exercises, recommend controls for high-risk areas, and support business continuity planning.
Audits & Reviews: Conduct compliance reviews and branch assessments; follow up on internal audit findings and CBK inspection issues to ensure timely closure.
Training & Liaison: Facilitate risk awareness training and liaise with internal departments, regulators, and auditors.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Banking, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Certification: Professional certification in Risk Management, Auditing, Accounting, or Compliance is required.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience in Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, or Internal Controls.
Sector Knowledge: Experience within the banking, microfinance, SACCO, or financial services sector is highly preferred.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, AML/CFT compliance, operational risk controls, and knowledge of CBK regulations and prudential guidelines.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in ICT systems, banking systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
