The Artisan role at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) is crucial for maintaining the functionality and operational safety of the hospital's facilities and equipment. JOOTRH has been in existence for more than a century, established in the early 1900s to cater for the health needs of workers at the then port town of Kisumu, growing to become the referral hospital serving County, Sub-county, and private hospitals in more than 10 Counties in the region.

This position requires expertise in various technical disciplines to ensure that essential services are consistently operational through repair and maintenance of hospital infrastructure.

Person Specifications (Qualifications and Experience)

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

• The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or its equivalent qualification.
• A Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III, II, or I in any of the following technical areas:
  • Carpentry
  • Masonry
  • Welding
  • Painting
  • Plumbing/pipe fitting
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Tailoring
• Or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Must possess practical work experience in maintenance or technical services.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Ability to repair and maintain hospital facilities and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
• Good problem-solving and hands-on technical skills.
