The Area Sales Manager for Kisii is responsible for building and developing a high-performing team through embedding performance development and coaching. The primary objective is to ensure that team members receive necessary coaching and feedback to develop their skills, achieve their maximum potential, and consistently meet or exceed sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision of Lead Generators (40%)
Enabling Sales: Act as an enabler to the Lead Generators under supervision by providing them with the tools and information to optimize sales.
Target Achievement: Through delegation to the Lead Generators, achieve set annual sales targets. Monitor performance on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Performance Management: Provide coaching and feedback on how to improve performance and agree on individual targets for products, assets, liabilities, and campaigns.
HR Management: Manage daily attendance levels within the team in compliance with HR policies, including leave management.
Field Oversight: Monitor the movement of Lead Generators on a daily basis to ensure that planned field meetings or activities are being carried out.
Motivation: Motivate staff and ensure they are recognized through the Absa Bank PLC recognition schemes.
Training: Identify training needs of the team and arrange for these needs to be met through on-the-job coaching and formal training.
Recruitment & Induction: Participate in Lead Generator interviews and ensure new hires undergo formal induction and compulsory compliance training.
Supervision of Sales Activities (30%)
Campaign Management: Supervise product promotion campaign aspects by distributing material to Lead Generators.
Information Cascading: Cascade key messages, including training for products to staff members and training on new application forms.
Sales Reporting: Monitor sales performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and provide results to the Regional Sales Managers.
Business Expansion (10%)
Client Acquisition: Work with Regional Sales Managers to unlock sales in companies through sales activations and financial training.
Lead Generation: Work with the sales teams to bring leads on new company sign-ups.
Operational Rigour, Compliance, and Controls (10%)
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal Absa Policies.
Risk Management: Understand and manage risks and risk events relevant to the role.
Document Accuracy: Ensure accuracy of each new account application, loan document, and all other customer documents.
Audit Readiness: Achieve operational rigour excellence in all aspects of procedures and processes to ensure a green audit.
Team Development and Personal Growth (10%)
Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge, experience, and best practices with other Sales Managers and the broader business.
Support: Provide cover for other Sales Managers in case of excessive workload or absence.
Continuous Learning: Pursue continued improvement in personal development by participating in development programs and training.
Requirements
Education: First degree, diploma, or relevant experience in a front-line banking sales, marketing, or customer service role.
Certification: Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies is required.
