Role Overview

The County Government of Kitui is seeking twenty-four (24) qualified individuals for the position of Animal Health Assistant II. This role is offered on Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service, focusing on supporting livestock health and productivity within the county through clinical care, disease control, and farmer education.

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Salary Scale: Ksh. 23,700 x 1,040 – 24,740 x 1,070 – 25,810 x 1,090 – 26,900 x 1,110 – 28,010 x 1,120 – 29,130 x 1,150 – 30,280 x 1,170 – 31,450 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

1. Carrying out simple treatment of animals.
2. Participating in disease search and reporting.
3. Demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting.
4. Carrying out vaccination.
5. Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.

Requirements for Appointment

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Citizen of Kenya.
• Hold a Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: – Animal Health, Environmental Health, Animal Health & Production from a recognized institution.
• Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board.
• Possess a Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution.
