Ambulance Driver

Responsibilities

• Operate ambulance vehicles for emergency and non-emergency medical services.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of patients and medical staff during transportation.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure routine maintenance is performed to keep the ambulance in optimal condition.
• Provide basic first aid assistance and support medical personnel as needed.
• Maintain accurate records including work tickets, logs, and fuel consumption reports.
• Adhere strictly to traffic laws and emergency response protocols.
• Ensure cleanliness of the vehicle and readiness of medical transport equipment.

Requirements

• Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
• Cumulative period of three (3) years’ relevant work experience as Driver III.
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
• A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the classes of vehicles required to drive.
• Attendance of a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized Institution.
• Certificate in Suitability Test for Drivers conducted by the Ministry responsible for transport.
• Certificate in Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers conducted by the Ministry responsible for transport.
• Defensive Driving certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification.
• Valid recommendation report of a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week, taken every three (3) years at KIHBT or another recognized institution.
• A valid Clearance Certificate from the National Police Service (Certificate of Good Conduct).
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

• Chapter 6 requirements will only be required from successful applicants.
