Key Responsibilities

• Asset Management: Prepare monthly, fully analyzed asset schedules by category (cost, additions, adjustments, disposals, depreciation, and net book value).
• Reconciliations: Perform accurate reconciliations between asset account movements in the purchase ledger and maintain clean supporting documentation.
• Capitalization Control: Ensure no adjustments occur due to assets being put into use before capitalization, and monitor Construction Work in Progress (CWIP) to ensure timely capitalization.
• Oracle Reporting: Ensure full and accurate analysis of disposals and accurate postings to Oracle systems.
• Depreciation and Valuation: Calculate depreciation charges to the P&L without errors and manage monthly inventory valuations, holding reports, and cost of sales schedules.
• Physical Verification: Conduct physical verification of assets on the ground against tag numbers at least once every two years and physical stock verification at least twice annually.
• Financial Reporting: Reconcile fixed asset registers with general ledger balances and Hyperion reporting requirements. Submit accurate daily movement reports for the stock ledger.
• CWIP Analysis: Provide justifications for any items outstanding in the CWIP account for more than six months.

Functional Competencies

• Planning and Control: Analyze performance trends and maintain controls within Financial Systems via master data management.
• Accounting Compliance: Ensure the integrity of processes and systems to record transactions in compliance with Safaricom accounting policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Reporting: Deliver timely, accurate reports to satisfy statutory and business requirements while identifying key performance variances.
• Financial Responsibility: Compile accurate financial information for inventory items and monitor the timely recognition of Cost of Sales.

Requirements

• Education: A Business-related Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
• Certification: Must be a qualified accountant with CPA (K), ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
• Experience: 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in finance, specializing in fixed assets, inventory accounting, sub-ledger accounting, or statutory reporting.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Qlik.
• Standards: Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their application.
• Interpersonal: Ability to work effectively in teams and relate well with internal and external customers.
