Narok County Public Service Board is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Accountant II. This role involves managing financial records, analyzing reports from public sector entities, and ensuring the accurate processing of payments and receipts. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for maintaining fiscal integrity and providing essential accounting support within the Narok County Government.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving and analyzing financial reports from public sector entities.
Collecting and maintaining a database of public-sector entities.
Preparing payment and receipt vouchers and capturing data in the financial system.
Maintaining primary records such as cashbooks, ledgers, and vote books.
Ensuring safe custody of Accounting records, cheques, and cheque books.
Receiving duly processed payments and receipt vouchers.
Writing cheques and posting payments/receipt vouchers in the cash books.
Balancing and ruling of the cash books on a daily basis.
Withdrawing cash and ensuring its safety.
Capturing Authority to Incur Expenditure (AIE) in the system and filing returns.
Preparing Appropriation in Aid (AIA) returns and payment advice (PA) forms.
Raising accounting debt entries.
Processing payments, reimbursements, and disbursements.
Preparing annual final accounts and verifying invoices.
Preparing accounting reports.
Defining employee and supplier details in the system.
Uploading and capturing accounting data into the system.
Providing user support and help desk management for financial systems.
Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option), Business Administration (Accounting option) from a recognized institution or any other relevant equivalent qualification.
Part II of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Served in the grade of Accountant II for a minimum period of one (1) year in the public sector.
