The accountant is responsible for executing day to day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the financial management functions of the organization. This role requires managing financial transactions, vendor payments, and premium collections, particularly within a busy environment such as insurance or financial services.
Main Responsibilities
Process daily financial transactions and maintain accurate record.
Manage accounts payable processes and vendor payments.
Handle accounts receivable and premium collection activities.
Perform bank reconciliations and cash management.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Reconcile premium and commission accounts.
Process payroll and employee expenses.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or related field required.
Professional accounting qualification (CPA-K, ACCA, or equivalent) in progress or completed; at least CPA Part II.
Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a busy environment, preferably in insurance or financial services.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (experience with Navision, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar preferred).
Understanding of tax regulations including VAT, withholding tax, and corporate tax.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
Experience in bank reconciliations, month-end closing, and financial reporting.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: KES 100,000-110,000
