About the Role
Nova Pioneer is looking for a Play Group Apprentice Teacher to join their team. This role is focused on providing a safe, secure, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children, co-creating a rich learning experience with the resident teacher, and growing professionally within the Nova Pioneer culture.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work, and lesson plans that meet the social, physical, and emotional needs of the children.
- Co-create a classroom environment with the resident teacher that is conducive to learning, developmentally appropriate, and well-organized.
- Participate fully in professional growth opportunities including daily team meetings, weekly professional development, and coaching.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress collaboratively with the resident teacher, using data to adjust teaching.
- Provide materials and resources for exploration, manipulation, and imaginative play.
- Instruct and monitor students in the safe use and care of equipment.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development (games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling).
- Prepare classrooms and learning spaces to facilitate creative play, learning, motor skills, and safety.
- Observe, evaluate, and keep records of each child's progress, providing written reports to leaders and parents.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Assist with welcoming and assimilating children to the school environment.
- Establish and enforce rules, policies, and procedures for behavior.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, guest visits, and other experiential activities.
- Attend professional meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Assist in bus loading and unloading.
About You (Requirements & Skills)
- TSC certification and a Degree in Education or P1 Diploma.
- 1-3 years of teaching experience.
- Strong technology skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible, open to change, and able to handle ambiguity.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Aligned with Nova Pioneer's culture of mutual vulnerability and continuous feedback.
- Desire to develop leadership skills to transform African youth.
