Job Description
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a leading Africa-based, African-led, international research institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. We conduct policy-relevant research on population, health, education, urbanization, and related development issues across the continent. We are seeking motivated interns to join our team for the 2026 intake.
Role Overview
Successful candidates will work under the guidance of an assigned supervisor to contribute to research projects while gaining professional experience in a world-class research environment. The internship is hybrid, requiring physical availability in Nairobi for specific activities.
Responsibilities
Work with the assigned supervisor to develop internship objectives and a comprehensive work plan.
Deliver on set objectives and provide frequent project updates and reports.
Contribute to policy engagement activities and strategic planning as required.
Conduct at least one Brown Bag Presentation (BBP) regarding your work at the Center.
Submit a formal written report at least one week before the internship ends.
Complete an internship/visiting scholar feedback form.
Participate in the post-internship follow-up evaluation survey.
Qualifications and Experience
Have completed a bachelor’s degree within the last six months and/or be pursuing/completing a master’s degree.
Academic background in Population Studies/Demography, Statistics, Epidemiology, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills are highly desired.
Must be a national of a sub-Saharan African country.
Ability to work in a hybrid setup with physical presence in Nairobi when required.
