Job Description
Nakuru County Government is seeking to recruit a qualified individual for the position of Youth Polytechnic Instructor III specialized in Motor Vehicle Mechanics. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality vocational training, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical skills to prepare trainees for the automotive industry. This role involves comprehensive instructional management, from lesson planning and assessment to workshop maintenance and student mentorship.
Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Delivery: Provide both theoretical and practical instruction to trainees in the area of motor vehicle mechanics.
Educational Planning: Prepare and maintain essential professional documents, including schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, and trainee records.
Learning Resources: Develop and utilize appropriate teaching and learning materials to enhance the training experience.
Student Assessment: Conduct regular trainee assessments to monitor progress and evaluate skill acquisition.
Workshop Management: Ensure the proper care, inventory, and maintenance of all tools and equipment within the workshop.
Student Welfare: Conduct co-curricular activities, maintain trainee discipline, and provide necessary guidance and counseling.
Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background: Must hold a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering from a recognized institution.
Pedagogical Training: Must possess a Certificate in instructors’ course from the Kenya School of TVET (formerly KTTC).
Digital Skills: Must have a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
