Job Description
The Nurse is directly responsible to the MCH in charge and will carry out duties focused on assessment, planning, coordination, and implementation of patient care. The role involves conducting rapid assessments and prioritization of patients based on the severity of their condition to ensure they receive timely and appropriate care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care and Assessment
Assess patients and plan for their care as appropriate.
Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatments, and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient charts.
Provide standard care to patients at the triage, emergency, and outpatient units.
Triage Services
Provide quality triage services documenting vital signs, identifying and initiating emergency care in collaboration with clinicians.
Document clearly patient vital signs in the patient cards and books.
Perform rapid assessment and prioritization of patients based on the severity of their condition.
Operational Support and Supervision
Guide and support staff in the department to meet patient care needs.
Make orders for drugs and other supplies as necessary.
Keep inventory of drugs and equipment in the department.
Guide and supervise support staff on departmental cleanliness in the absence of the In-charge.
Arrange and submit weekly/monthly unit work schedules and plan daily duties for support staff.
Growth Monitoring & Health Promotion
Provide growth monitoring services including updating the MCH booklet as per guidelines.
Ensure growth monitoring charts are fully filled.
Counsel and educate patients on identified psychosocial-economic needs.
Provide health promotion services in the department.
Monitoring and Evaluation
In the absence of EMR, ensure all MoH registers are clearly filled and support the generation of monthly reports.
Write reports on services in the department as necessary through compiling and submitting weekly/monthly HIS reports.
Compliance and Professionalism
Attend and facilitate Continuous Medical Education (CME) and clinical audits.
Adhere to hospital health and safety policies and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Ensure patients access specialized procedures as prescribed by clinicians or other team members.
Document and handover patients during shift change.
