Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a chartered university committed to holistic education and human resource development. We are currently seeking a Tutorial Fellow specializing in Subject Methods Home Science to join the School of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality learning experiences, conducting research, and supporting academic administration.
Responsibilities
Adhere to teaching requirements as per the approved curriculum.
Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and manage examination setting, administration, and marking.
Deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, including preparing teaching materials and class activities.
Stay updated on developments within the academic discipline of Home Science to shape curriculum content and design.
Ensure learning materials meet defined objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Guide undergraduate and graduate students in research topic identification, concept development, proposal writing, and supervision.
Maintain accurate student records in the Academic Management System, including attendance and assessments.
Identify research funding sources through grant writing and engage in publishing academic papers.
Attend and present at workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages and meet research objectives.
Perform administrative duties as assigned, including leadership of academic programs or committee membership.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
A Master’s Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
A Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science).
Registration by a relevant professional body.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
