The Tiling Trainer role is critical for Toolkit, a digitally innovative social enterprise focused on skilling women and youth and linking them to employment or entrepreneurship opportunities. Toolkit's robust skilling uses world-class technologies in each trade, enriched with employability, digital, and entrepreneurship skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously update tiling curricula and schemes of work under the guidance of the Department Manager and in line with industry standards.
- Deliver practical and theoretical training sessions covering topics such as surface preparation, tile layout, cutting and fixing, grouting, and finishing. Monitor Student attendance, engagement, and performance and provide timely interventions when challenges arise.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the tiling workshop to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Education and Experience
- NITA Grade 2 certification as the minimum trade Certification in Tiling, Masonry or a related Construction Trade.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in professional tiling, including layout, leveling, cutting, and installation on walls and floors.
- At least 8 years in the construction sector, preferably with exposure to both residential and commercial projects.
- Prior experience in vocational training, coaching, or adult education is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of industry safety regulations, tiling materials, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to deliver training effectively in both English and Kiswahili.
