Position Summary
HIAS seeks to recruit Temporary Office Cleaners who will be responsible for ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness and ground maintenance throughout the premises. This position is offered on a temporary basis; the incumbents will be relieving office assistants or will be engaged when needed.
The duty stations for this position are Kikuyu & Ngong Road (Nairobi area).
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Develop routines to ensure all common areas of the offices are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
- Assist in the general cleaning of the offices.
- Ensuring that yard work and maintenance of outdoor areas are carried out, including keeping the compound clean, trimming the fences, trees, and shrubs, and tending to the flowers.
- Drawing to the attention of the appropriate authorities, any repair or maintenance work required at the offices.
- Ensure the availability of cleaning supplies in all sanitary places.
- Use cleaning materials and consumables economically.
- Empty general waste refuse bins and make sure all refuse is disposed of promptly and using proper disposal methods.
- Disinfect drains and dustbins regularly.
- Assist in the organization of archived files.
- Any other duties assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
HIAS seeks candidates who meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Minimum of secondary school education (KCSE).
- Certificate in housekeeping or its equivalent.
- Experience as a cleaner/Office Assistant for not less than 1 year.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively individually and with a team.
- Ability to follow oral and and written instructions.
- Knowledge in Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
