Taita Taveta University (TTU) is seeking a qualified and experienced Technologist II (Grade 7) to join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This role is essential for supporting the university's academic mission by managing technical resources and facilitating practical learning and research for students and faculty within the Civil Engineering discipline.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain laboratories and workshops within the Civil Engineering department.
- Support students and faculty members in conducting laboratory experiments and research projects.
- Ensure that engineering equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and safely operated.
- Prepare materials and set up apparatus for practical demonstrations.
- Implement health and safety standards within the technical learning environment.
- Provide technical assistance in construction materials testing and other field-related activities.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory and material stock levels.
- Prepare technical reports as required by the department head.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following two paths for qualification:
Option 1:
- Must possess a Higher National Diploma in a relevant technical field (Civil Engineering) from a recognized institution or its equivalent.
- At least three (3) years’ work experience as Technologist III or in a comparable position.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Option 2:
- Must possess a Diploma in a relevant technical field (Civil Engineering) from a recognized institution or its equivalent.
- At least five (5) years’ work experience as Technologist III or in a comparable position.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Demonstrated exemplary work performance in previous roles.
Terms of Service
- The position is offered on Permanent and Pensionable Terms.
- The successful candidate will be entitled to applicable allowances as approved by the University Council.
