Technologist I (KEWI Grade 7)

The Technologist I (KEWI Grade 7) reports directly to the Senior Technologist (KEWI 6). This role is critical for supporting technical and practical training sessions and ensuring the functionality and safety of laboratory infrastructure within the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI).

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities at this level include:

• Providing support in organizing and preparing for specific practical sessions in the laboratories.
• Providing support in maintaining laboratory facilities and training aids.
• Assisting in the fabrication of project assignments.
• Ensuring the safety of training equipment and facilities.
• Operating and maintaining training equipment and tools.
• Implementing guidelines for students with special needs.
• Developing service schedules for equipment.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following qualifications:

• Experience: Must have served for a cumulative period of six (6) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Technologist II or in a comparable position.
• Education: Must possess a Diploma in Water / Irrigation Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognised Institution.
• Certifications: Must have a Certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) course or its equivalent lasting not less than six (6) months from a recognised Institution (holders of a Certificate in Education are exempted).
• Skills: Must demonstrate proficiency in computer applications.
• Performance: Must have shown merit and ability reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity. Successful candidates will be required to provide the following clearances upon job offer (not at the application stage):

• Certificate of Good Conduct;
• Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
• Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
• Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
• Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
