The Technician will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of hydrogen and nitrogen gas plants. This role ensures a steady supply of gases to the production lines, involves routine monitoring of equipment health, process parameter logging, and troubleshooting any operational abnormalities. The technician will also be heavily involved in safe LPG offloading and the implementation of 6S standards within the plants.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the safe operation of hydrogen and nitrogen gas plants.
Maintain a steady supply of nitrogen and hydrogen gases to the Metal Coating Line (MCL) and annealing furnace.
Monitor equipment health continuously and report any malfunctions to the production and maintenance supervisors.
Record all process parameters in shift log sheets as provided.
Troubleshoot process abnormalities and initiate preventive/corrective actions.
Report equipment malfunctions to the metal coating line production engineer.
Perform safe LPG offloading and guarantee its steady supply to the Metal Coating Line, Colour Coating Line, and Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP).
Collaborate with the production team to meet daily output and quality targets.
Send flash reports on matters pertaining to gas plant operations.
Prepare daily LPG consumption reports.
Implement and maintain 6S standards in the gas plants.
Prepare and replenish potassium hydroxide solution for the hydrogen plant.
Participate in shutdown activities when required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the management from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a process industry environment (such as oil & gas, petrochemical plants, refineries, or industrial gas operations).
Technical Skills: Ability to interpret P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams; knowledge of DCS/SCADA systems and process control operations.
Languages: Good communication skills in English and Swahili.
