The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is seeking a Technical Coordinator (SC10) to lead efforts in climate change adaptation within Kenya. This role focuses on overseeing grant delivery, ensuring project goals are met within budget and timelines, and coordinating with various national stakeholders including the National Designated Authority (NDA) and the Council of Governors (CoG).
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Grant and Project Management: Oversee and manage grant delivery, ensuring strict adherence to project scope, budget, and timelines. Prepare annual and quarterly work plans in consultation with FAO, NDA, MoECCF, CoG, and other stakeholders.
Technical Coordination: Provide technical guidance to all project outputs and ensure the logical flow of interdependent activities across the project. Oversee and review the development of county climate adaptation plans.
Governance and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as Secretary to the Project Steering Committee (PSC), preparing agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among project partners.
Quality Assurance and Monitoring: Ensure the technical quality of deliverables, including reports, M&E systems, and knowledge products. Monitor project progress, risks, and results in line with the Logical Framework and GCF reporting requirements.
Reporting: Consolidate inputs for the review report of NAP implementation. Ensure timely preparation of progress and completion reports for FAO and the GCF while maintaining transparent reporting systems.
Inclusion and Risk Mitigation: Promote inclusive participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in project activities. Identify potential implementation challenges and propose mitigation measures promptly to FAO and the PSC.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive work experience in climate change adaptation planning, implementation, or related work.
Languages: Working knowledge (level C) of English and Kiswahili.
Nationality: Applicants must be a National of Kenya.
