The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) is an internationally acclaimed institution dedicated to providing quality education integrated with Christian principles. UEAB is seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of Mathematics who will also be expected to deliver Chemistry lessons.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBE) requirements while upholding the values and ethos of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Mathematics and Chemistry lessons in line with CBE requirements.
- Assess, evaluate, and record learners’ academic progress.
- Provide remedial support and guidance to struggling learners.
- Maintain discipline and a conducive learning environment.
- Integrate Christian values in teaching and mentorship.
- Participate in co-curricular activities, school programs, and departmental meetings.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians on learners’ progress.
- Uphold the values and ethos of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Have a minimum of a Diploma in Education from a recognized Teacher Training Institution. A Bachelor’s Degree in Education is an added advantage.
- KCSE Requirements: Must have a minimum of a C+ (plus) at KCSE (or its equivalent) with at least a C+ (or Credit Pass) in the two teaching subjects. (Note: Diploma Teachers who graduated in 2008 or before with a mean grade of C (plain) and C (plain) in the two teaching subjects qualify for consideration.)
- P1 Certificate is an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 1 year’s teaching experience is an added advantage.
- Registration: Must have an active registration as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- Curriculum Knowledge: Commitment to student-centered learning and the CBE curriculum. Any training on the CBE curriculum is an added advantage.
- Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Spiritual Standing: Must be an Adventist in regular standing. Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from their local church pastor.
- Clearance: Must provide the Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
