The Tank Farm Assistant will be responsible for preparing storage tanks for receipts and loading, leading the tank farm crew in the receipt, bunkering, and handling of bulk petroleum products, and ensuring operations are conducted safely while maintaining strict HSSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
HSSE Support: Support the delivery of the Mombasa Terminal Annual HSSE plan by executing assigned roles, participating in the HEMP process, weekly toolbox meetings, and monthly ERP drills.
Safety Culture: Enhance the safety culture at Mombasa Terminal by supporting PI and incident reporting for all tank farm contractors to achieve zero LTIs.
Operational Safety & Compliance: Ensure all product transfer operations are conducted safely and in line with procedures. Manage the safety of tank farm vehicles, VHF radios, and custody of interceptors and keys.
Contractor Supervision: Supervise tank farm contractor staff, conduct weekly PPE inspections, and execute monthly competency training.
KPI & Audit Management: Maintain and track tank farm KPIs monthly; target zero high/serious audit findings in marine and tank farm operations.
Stock & Consignment Management: Monitor tank stock levels, coordinate safe pumpovers with KPRL, and manage consignment stock at customer sites.
Daily Operations: Prepare tanks for gantry operations daily, capture temperatures/densities in SAP every 4 hours, and conduct daily dippings and reconciliations.
Quality Control: Supervise and document aviation quality checks, coordinate accurate tank sampling during discharges, and perform water draining.
Maintenance Coordination: Review the annual terminal maintenance plan, test High-Level Alarms (HLA), and maintain the equipment breakdown log.

Applying strong interpersonal skills to coordinate schedules with vessels and other stakeholders.
Upholding both HSSE and Operational procedures strictly.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Minimum Higher National Diploma in Engineering or a Technical field.
Experience: Experience in petroleum operations is required.
Licensing: Must possess a valid Driving License.
HSSE Knowledge: Essential knowledge of Group HSSE-MS is required.
Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit with no fear of heights (no phobia to height).
Skills: Strong communication, leadership, computer literacy, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
