The role of the System Administrator is to provide technical assistance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the overall efficiency and security of computer systems and networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and servers.
- Conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems, applications, or security best practices.
- Assist in ensuring that IT systems and processes comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Explore and implement automation tools and scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance efficiency.
- Assist in collection and documentation of user requirements for systems and equipment.
- Handling of the ICT helpdesk system to ensure all tickets are handled and closed within set timelines.
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
- Support the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Provide support in ICT security measures, such as firewalls and antivirus programs.
- Assist in monitoring systems for security breaches and take appropriate actions to address vulnerabilities.
- Support data backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Assist in creating user guides and manuals for common technical issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree or an equivalent in Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from accredited and recognized institution.
- 4 years of relevant experience as a supervisor in the information technology industry.
- A minimum of four (4) years gained work experience from a reputable organisation.
- Professional qualification e.g., Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or equivalent may be beneficial.
