The role of Supplies Chain Management Officer (2 Posts) at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) is offered on a contract basis (reference EXT/KMF/TEMP/23). The officer will provide essential technical and administrative support to the procurement and supply chain functions of the Institute.
Job Specification
The key duties and responsibilities for this role include:
- Participating in the provision of technical support on the implementation of procurement strategies.
- Assisting in the implementation of the approved consolidated procurement plan.
- Assisting in the preparation, compilation, and submission of reports to management.
- Supporting the implementation of appropriate internal control systems and conducting regular checks on stocks and issuance procedures.
- Assisting in the identification of surplus, obsolete, and unserviceable stores and equipment for disposal purposes.
- Participating in market surveys by collecting and analyzing data to establish prevailing market prices for standard goods.
- Supporting the clerical roles in the department.
Person Specification and Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Commerce, Business Administration (Supply Management option), Economics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Law, or their equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
