The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), established under the Statistics Act (2006), is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody. The Bureau is seeking to recruit Statisticians specializing in Social Statistics (2 Posts).

This is a Permanent and Pensionable position. The jobholder, reporting to the Manager, Statistics, will be responsible for implementing activities within their functional area of deployment.

Terms of Employment and Remuneration

• Terms of Employment: Permanent and Pensionable
• Monthly Basic Salary: Kshs. 80,400 - Kshs. 117,720
• Allowances:
  • House Allowance: Kshs. 20,000
  • Commuter Allowance: Kshs. 12,000

Job Purpose

The jobholder will be responsible for implementing activities in the functional area of deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out pre-tests and piloting data collection instruments.
• Setting up control measures for dispatch and receipt of questionnaires.
• Updating statistical registers and checklists.
• Identifying statistical units for data collection.
• Following-up on non-response from data providers.
• Preparing tabulation and analysis plans on data.
• Collecting, collating, editing, and analyzing data.
• Computing statistical indices.
• Compiling and collating County Statistical Abstracts data.
• Disseminating county level statistics.
• Updating county specific sampling units from respective sampling frames.
• Providing guidance on statistical standards and methods to stakeholders at the County.
• Undertaking any other duties, lawfully assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements for Appointment

• Must have a Bachelor Degree in any of the following disciplines: Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
