Job Description
The Special Class Instructor at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is responsible for delivering high-quality fitness and wellness instruction at the United Nations Recreation Centre (UNRC). The role involves teaching a variety of specialized fitness classes and engaging with clients to promote a healthy lifestyle. The instructor works toward creating excellence in the Fitness Centre, ensuring facility readiness, and maintaining high standards of client engagement.
Responsibilities
Instruction: Teach specialized fitness classes including Zumba / Aqua Zumba, Salsa, Rhumba, Yoga, Spin, Taekwondo, Pilates, Aerobics, Cross-fit, Acapella, Barre, and Aqua Aerobics.
Program Development: Assist in developing outreach initiatives, marketing materials, schedules, and wellness content to engage and inspire clients.
Facility Management: Prepare exercise classes and ensure studios and aerobics rooms are clean and ready for client use.
Promotion: Actively promote fitness classes to both members and non-members to increase or sustain membership levels.
Client Management: Maintain a client database or profile records for reference and progress tracking.
Advisory: Provide professional advice to clients on health and fitness-related matters.
Reporting: Report directly to the UNRC Manager to ensure excellence in service delivery.
Other Duties: Perform additional related tasks as required by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: High School Certificate (KCSE) is required.
Certification: A professional certificate in a relevant discipline (Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Taekwondo, etc.) is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a reputable organization or fitness setting teaching specialized classes.
Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of fitness products, equipment, and exercise techniques is required.
