As a Site Quality Manager at Unilever, you will lead innovations, big and small, that drive business growth. In this key Quality role, you will ensure systems are in place to comply with local regulatory requirements and drive site Quality improvement activities to ensure product consumer safety, overall quality, and address consumer/customer issues. This role is critical in mitigating and managing Corporate Operational Risk regarding product design and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership, People, Culture & Linkage
Deploy Unilever Quality strategy and goals through site-specific projects and targets.
Provide Quality leadership to influence Site Quality culture, creating a passion for products and brands.
Build quality and consumer safety skills through coaching and training of factory teams.
Ensure the Quality team possesses the necessary skills to support site quality programs.
Participate as the lead for Site Quality in internal and virtual network forums.
Quality Systems Management
Implement Unilever Quality Management System (QMS) locally to assure consumer safety.
Verify compliance through internal audits and annual Quality Verification program self-assessments.
Ensure Unilever and external standards are accurately represented in local procedures.
Review and analyze site quality KPIs and loss trees to identify improvement areas.
Maintain satisfactory standings for Unilever and external customer-required audits/certifications (e.g., Kosher, Halal).
Lead product incident management situations and verify traceability of materials and products.
Implement procedures to control non-conforming materials (identification, segregation, disposition).
HACCP, Hygiene, and Cleaning
Develop, implement, and update site HACCP plans and pre-requisite programs.
Validate and verify consumer safety risks, including pest control, allergen management, and hygienic controls.
Ensure compliance with category/technology Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Testing & Measurement
Implement intake control programs for materials and packaging inspection.
Execute testing programs throughout the production cycle aligned with Unilever specifications.
Oversee on-site Quality laboratories to ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Manage calibration and maintenance programs for inspection and measuring equipment.
Monitor product fill control to ensure regulatory compliance with label weight declarations.
UMS & Continuous Improvement
Lead the Quality Pillar for the site within Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) frameworks.
Utilize IT systems and improvement tools to reduce or eliminate quality losses.
Partner with Procurement to monitor supplier performance and address quality losses in materials.
Utilize process capability studies to align processing and filling operations with specification limits.
Innovation & Change
Support quality-related innovation trials and early management for projects affecting the site.
Provide resources for Value Improvement Projects (VIP).
Execute quality-related responsibilities as detailed in the Launch Management Plan (LMP).
Requirements
Essential
University degree in a technical discipline or general sciences.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Quality or Manufacturing.
Preferred
Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, or Microbiology.
Direct experience in a manufacturing environment.
