Senior Sports Officer

The Senior Sports Officer role is a permanent and pensionable position within the County Government of Kitui. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating sports programs, managing facilities, developing talent, and ensuring effective participation in sports competitions across the County.

Salary Scale and Terms of Service

• Salary Scale: Ksh. 44,400 x 1,920 – 46,320 x 2,000 – 48,320 x 2,290 – 50,610 x 2,350 – 52,960 x 2,550 – 55,510 x 2,850 – 58,360 x 2,750 – 61,110 p.m.
• Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Sports Officer shall be responsible for:

• Identifying and developing sports talent.
• Preparing teams for sports competitions.
• Advising on the use and development of local sports facilities and equipment.
• Liaising with Sports Federations in organizing and officiating sports competitions.
• Preparing reports on sports programmes.
• Coordinating training for coaches, referees, trainers, umpires, team managers, team doctors and federation officials.
• Coordinating maintenance of inventory of sports tools, equipment and facilities.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a Citizen of Kenya.
2. Served in the grade of Sports Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years.
3. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following discipline: Physical Education, Sports Science or Leisure and Recreation Management from a recognized institution;
4. OR Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management lasting not less than two (2) years or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
5. Possess a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
6. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
