Senior Principal Lecturer II – Hydrology/Hydrogeology, KEWI Grade 4

The Senior Principal Lecturer II (KEWI Grade 4) reports to the Senior Principal Lecturer I (KEWI Grade 3) and holds a pivotal role in delivering specialized academic programs in Hydrology and Hydrogeology.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Coordinating the review of teaching/learning materials and schemes of work.
• Coordinating lecturing in the area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus.
• Facilitating supervision of trainees' projects and practical work.
• Conducting research and publishing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
• Implementing guidelines for students with special needs.
• Preparing students' progress reports.
• Conducting student academic mentorship programmes.
• Developing and maintaining class registers.
• Contributing to professional conferences and seminars.
• May be assigned to perform the role of subject coordinator.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must meet the following specifications:

• Served for a cumulative period of twelve (12) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Principal Lecturer II or in a comparable position.
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant lecturing field in Hydrology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
• A Master's degree in a relevant lecturing field in Hydrology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
• Certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) course lasting not less than six (6) months in a recognized Institution.
• Membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing where applicable.
• A valid practicing certificate where applicable.
• Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Demonstrated merit, integrity, and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Applicants will also be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
