The role of Senior Investments Officer, Capital Markets is crucial for strategic investment management at the Fund. This position is responsible for collecting information, conducting research, and analyzing assets such as stocks, bonds, currencies, and commodities to recommend viable assets and opportunities to invest in or disinvest from. The Officer is also responsible for closely tracking and monitoring the activities of the external Fund managers who execute investment decisions on behalf of the Fund.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and evaluate return on investment trends that may affect the investment portfolio.
- Manage and store departmental data efficiently.
- Develop periodic performance and trend reports.
- Review fund manager’s investment plans and provide advisory insights on market trends and market risk.
- Undertake research on both the existing investment portfolio and potential new investments.
- Analyse financial information relating to specific companies, such as company results, profit, and loss statements.
- Keep up to date with global and local market developments, new investment products, and industry regulations.
- Carry out monitoring and evaluation of the Funds portfolio returns, covering both traditional and alternative investments.
- Develop and implement basic models in investments that will guide investment decision-making.
- Perform investment trends and scenario analysis, and develop corresponding scenario models.
- Evaluate the investment portfolio to determine and advise on the overall risk exposure.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelors Degree or an equivalent in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option), Bachelor of Economics and Finance, or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Finance option) from an accredited and recognized institution.
- 5 years of relevant experience, preferably as a supervisor in the pension industry.
- Professional qualifications in Accounting or Investments, such as CPA, ACCA, ICIFA, CFA, or equivalent, are mandatory.
