Senior Information Technologist, KEWI 6

The role of the Senior Information Technologist, KEWI 6, is situated within the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) and reports directly to the Principal Information Technologist, KEWI 5. This is a senior-level position primarily focused on managing and maintaining the IT laboratory environment and supporting technical training and research activities within the institute.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

• Preparing laboratory practical schedules.
• Installing necessary software within the laboratory environment.
• Maintaining and ensuring the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records and reports.
• Conducting research and related consultancy activities, particularly those focused on technical training.
• Preparation of comprehensive laboratory manuals.
• Preparing various laboratory reports.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

To be appointed to this senior grade, the officer must meet the following mandatory requirements:

Experience:

• Served for a cumulative period of nine (9) years relevant work experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years of this experience must have been served at the grade of Information Technologist I or in a comparable position.

Education & Certification:

• A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Information Communications Technology, Business Information Technology, or Computer Science related fields from a recognised institution.
• Possession of certification in networking, specifically CISCO or any relevant Microsoft certification.
• Membership to a relevant professional body and maintaining good standing, where applicable.

Attributes:

• Must demonstrate merit and ability, clearly reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the requirements above, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity. The required clearances (Certificate of Good Conduct, EACC Clearance, HELB Compliance, KRA Tax Compliance, CRB Clearance) will only be required from successful candidates upon job offer and not at the application stage.
