Senior Hospitality Officer, Job Grade KEWI 6

The Senior Hospitality Officer, KEWI 6, is responsible for managing and ensuring the highest quality of hospitality services at the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI), reporting directly to the Principal Hospitality Officer KEWI 5.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Providing quality catering, housekeeping, accommodation, and conferencing services at the school.
• Updating records and inventory of housekeeping and catering facilities and equipment.
• Taking stock of housekeeping and catering commodities, materials, and stuff.
• Monitoring compliance to health, safety, and environmental regulations in the provision of hospitality services.
• Conducting customer satisfaction surveys.
• Preparing duty roster for junior staff.
• Preparing hospitality service work plans.
• Supervising staff.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must satisfy the following criteria:

• Served for a cumulative period of six (6) years relevant work experience, including three (3) years in the grade of Hospitality Officer I or in a comparable position.
• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in either Hotel and Catering Management or Hotel and Hospitality Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution.
• Hold a Certificate of medical examination in line with the Food, Drugs and Chemical Substance Act.
• Membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing where applicable.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the requirements above, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity. Successful candidates will be required to provide the following clearances upon offer of job (not at the application stage):

• Certificate of Good Conduct
• Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC)
• Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
• Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance
• Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
