This is a full-time Senior Associate role specializing in Dispute Resolution, based in Mombasa. The successful candidate will be a highly competent and ethical lawyer responsible for independently managing complex client matters, developing litigation strategies, and supervising junior lawyers.
Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge
The role requires the following qualifications, robust experience, and knowledge:
- Education: An LL.B Degree with at least Second Class Upper Division from a recognized university. A master's degree and other relevant courses are considered an added advantage.
- Professional Standing: Must be actively practicing with a valid current practicing certificate.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant post-admission experience gained within a reputable law firm.
- Case Management Expertise:
- Proven ability to manage client matters independently, including the supervision of junior lawyers.
- Demonstrated experience handling and managing complex civil, commercial, and constitutional litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) matters.
- In-depth understanding of court procedures, case strategy development, and evidence management.
- Ability to manage client portfolios, develop litigation strategies, and lead case teams effectively.
- Advocacy and Skillset:
- Strong advocacy experience before superior courts and tribunals.
- Excellent legal drafting, research, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Interpersonal & Professional Attributes:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with client centricity.
- Proven ability to build and maintain appropriate, strong, and authentic relationships with internal firm partners, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.
- Must be passionate and enthusiastic about the law and its developments.
- Possess a reputation for the highest ethical standards and integrity.
