The role of the Senior Accountant (Aviation) in Nairobi involves managing the comprehensive accounting operations for an organization within the aviation sector, which serves charter, leasing, safari, humanitarian, and maintenance clients. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and providing strategic financial insights to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare, issue, and track invoices for safari, humanitarian, and maintenance clients, ensuring accuracy and timely collection.
- Maintain and reconcile inventory and stock records, working closely with the maintenance and operations teams to ensure proper valuation and control of aircraft parts and consumables.
- Assist in budget preparation, cost analysis, and financial forecasting to support management decisions.
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts, and client accounts.
- Ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory filings.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and transparency.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial coordination across charter, leasing, and maintenance operations.
- Prepare cashflow reports to monitor liquidity, forecast cash needs, and support informed financial planning.
- Prepare management reports that summarize financial performance and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in inventory management, invoicing, and financial reconciliation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Proficient in accounting software.
