Security Officer

The role of the Security Officer (EXT/KMF/TEMP/22) at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) involves maintaining and enhancing the security framework of the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to developing and implementing robust security strategies to safeguard assets and ensure the continuity of operations.

Job Specifications: Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:

• Participating in the development and implementation of security strategies, policies and procedures;
• Liaising with security agencies to ensure security of assets and operations;
• Participating in the coordination of emergency procedures and contingency planning;
• Identifying potential security threats;
• Coordinating investigation of internal security breaches;
• Maintaining records of crimes and incidents;
• Overseeing security surveys and inspections.
• Liaising with County Administration and Kenya Police Service on security matters.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Criminology or equivalent from a recognized university;
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ (Plus) or equivalent;
• Prior service in the Police Force or Military.
