The Sales Manager reports to the Sales Director and is responsible for ensuring that sales revenues for resort operations are met and exceeded, aligning with targets established by Corporate Sales & Marketing. This is a crucial role focused on driving business within assigned markets, and it entails working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Execution and Relationship Management: Execute core sales activities including preparing quotations, managing contracts, and conducting regular sales calls. Maintain and strengthen professional relationships with key stakeholders, including travel agents, tour operators, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and corporate clients within designated markets.
- Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the Sales Director to implement promotional initiatives, special offers, presentations, and advertising campaigns aimed at increasing market awareness and optimizing business conversion rates.
- Market Intelligence: Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and local market dynamics to provide insights that support informed decision-making and ensure the resort maintains a competitive advantage.
- Reporting and Forecasting: Maintain accurate reporting and forecasting mechanisms to support effective operational planning. Ensure that defined targets, profitability metrics, and desired business mix expectations are consistently met.
- Financial Support: Assist the Finance department with payment processes and ensure strict adherence to budgeted revenue, rate, and overall profitability goals for assigned markets.
- Compliance and Brand Standards: Guarantee that all sales activities, marketing materials, and client interactions strictly comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), brand guidelines, and established service standards.
- Client and Leadership Support: Handle client queries professionally, uphold a positive brand image, and support the Director of Sales (DOS)/Commercial Leadership with any additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (an MBA may be beneficial but is not required).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in hospitality or tourism sales, with specific exposure to the East African market.
- Track Record: Proven success in developing new business relationships and consistently meeting sales targets.
- Industry Network: Established professional network within the Tourism sector.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the East African travel market dynamics.
- Core Competencies: Excellent presentation skills and strong negotiation abilities.
- Work Ethic: Must be self-motivated and possess a proactive approach toward business development.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
