The Safety and Security Intern will provide coordination support on safety and security under the guidance of the Operations Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate to gain experience in a leading international non-governmental organization.
Key Areas of Accountability
Visitor Coordination: Liaise with the Admin Team for the visitor’s tracker and ensure all visitors are booked for a security briefing either prior to their travel or within 24 hours upon arrival.
Reporting & Documentation: Support the Operations Coordinator in compiling routine security reports and ensure relevant databases are accurately updated at all times. Assist in compiling daily security information to facilitate the monthly reporting and decision-making process.
Field Visit Support: Assist in the planning and preparation of field visit support.
Communication Management: Update and maintain an up-to-date security/communication tree and conduct monthly tests of the communication tree.
Incident Reporting: Support staff in reporting incidents in Datix.
Training & Development: Support the Operations Coordinator during staff training sessions.
Emergency Preparedness: Support in emergency and contingency planning documentation. Support the Operations Coordinator to ensure that security management in emergency response procedures are appropriately documented and shared with all staff. Provide back-up support to the Operations Coordinator in emergency response.
Field Support: Provide feedback to field staff in response to security-related inquiries; raise inquiries with the Operations Coordinator where technical support is required.
Compliance: Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for regulatory compliance.
Other Duties: Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Criminology and Security Studies, or other related fields.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and negotiation.
Highly developed cultural awareness and the ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Strong results orientation and commitment.
Ability to use MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Strong work ethics.
Fluency in English (both verbal and written).
