About the Role
Kabarak University is seeking a qualified Resource Technician to manage and maintain musical assets and equipment. This role involves inventory control, coordinating equipment usage for students and staff, and ensuring all instruments are stored and maintained under optimal conditions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both Western and African musical instruments and be registered with a relevant professional body in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain a comprehensive and accurate record of all departmental assets.
Equipment Coordination: Manage the daily issuance and safe return of departmental equipment to students and faculty.
Quality Control: Perform regular inspections of the inventory to identify any damage, wear, or tuning needs.
Maintenance & Repairs: Submit detailed reports on faulty instruments to the Head of Department (HOD) and coordinate professional repairs or tuning.
Storage & Security: Oversee the organization and security of the Music Storeroom, ensuring environmental conditions are optimal to prevent instrument damage.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in performing and teaching various Western and African musical instruments.
Skills: Strong competencies in performing, teaching, and coordinating a wide variety of musical instruments.
Professional Membership: Must be a registered member of a recognized professional body such as the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) or another relevant Kenyan professional association.
Certification: Relevant professional qualifications in music performance, instruction, or instrumental training from a recognized institution.
