P.C.E.A Tumutumu Hospital, established in 1909 and governed by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa, is a 203-bed facility providing holistic health care. Located in the Central Highlands of Kenya near Mount Kenya, the hospital is seeking a dedicated Resident General Surgeon to join its medical team.
Role Overview
The Resident General Surgeon will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care, performing various procedures, and managing patient recovery. This role involves working within a mission-driven environment to deliver medical services to the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general surgical procedures and manage surgical cases within the hospital.
Conduct laparoscopic and endoscopic services for patients (a significant advantage).
Evaluate patient medical histories and determine appropriate surgical interventions.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure patient safety and recovery.
Collaborate with other medical specialists and healthcare staff to provide holistic care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using computer-based systems.
Ensure compliance with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
Master's Degree (MMed) in General Surgery from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Specialist Certificate from KMPDC and a valid practicing license.
Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
At least three (3) years of experience as a General Surgeon in a reputable hospital.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and flexibly.
A recommendation letter from a religious leader (who should be one of the referees).
