Research Officer II

The Research Officer II role reports to the Senior Research Officer and is crucial for supporting and executing research projects within Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH). KUTRRH is a leading National Referral Hospital with a 650-bed capacity, equipped with state-of-the-art medical amenities focusing on Oncology, Trauma & Orthopedics, and Renal services, among others.

Duties and Responsibilities

The position holder will be responsible for:

• Participating in project planning activities such as operational planning and budgeting.
• Developing project proposals and related documentation.
• Collaborating with partners to develop comprehensive work plans, where necessary.
• Collecting and computing robust research data.
• Monitoring and evaluating ongoing research projects to ensure progress and adherence to plans.
• Coordinating and maintaining master files for clinical research conducted within the hospital.
• Coordinating with partners and internal teams to facilitate capacity-building training sessions.
• Preparing project documentation and research reports for management review.
• Ensuring transparency, ethical conduct, and operational efficiency during project implementation.
• Reporting on project activities and expenditures as required according to the project schedule.
• Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.
• Organizing and participating in periodic project meetings.
• Collaborating with research teams to document project achievements.
• Any other duty as may be assigned.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Sciences, Public Health, or any other Health Science related field from a recognized institution.
• Evidence of participation in research projects and publications.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
