Orchid HR Outsourcing is seeking a Quality Control Officer to maintain high standards of quality across the production cycle within a packaging, printing, and labels manufacturing environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring that raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods meet rigorous technical and aesthetic specifications to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize operational waste.
Responsibilities
Raw Material Inspection: Inspect and verify raw materials against specifications upon receipt to ensure they meet quality, color, and performance standards before release to production.
Supplier Management: Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to address non-conforming materials, including managing rejections, returns, and following up on corrective actions.
In-Process Monitoring: Conduct inspections across various production stages, including printing, cutting, lamination, and finishing.
Quality Parameter Oversight: Monitor critical parameters such as color accuracy/consistency, print alignment, registration, die-cutting accuracy, and finishing quality.
Compliance: Ensure all production adheres to approved samples, job cards, and specific production requirements.
Deviation Management: Identify deviations early and work closely with production teams to implement immediate corrective measures.
Final Assurance: Perform final quality checks on finished labels and packaging products before dispatch, confirming compliance with customer artwork, dimensions, and packaging requirements.
Inventory Release: Authorize the release of only approved products for delivery.
Documentation: Maintain accurate inspection records, test results, and comprehensive quality reports.
Process Improvement: Support the implementation of quality management systems (QMS) and SOPs to reduce rework, wastage, and customer complaints.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Industrial Chemistry, Printing Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 2–5 years of experience in quality control specifically within the packaging, printing, or labels manufacturing industry in Kenya.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of printing processes, quality inspection methods, standards, and material specifications.
Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to interact effectively with operators and supervisors on the production floor.
Reporting: Proficiency in quality documentation and reporting procedures.
