Public Policy or Public Relations Interns

Diageo is the world’s leading premium drinks company, built on the principles and foundations laid by the giants of the industry. This internship offers students an opportunity to gain valuable professional experience within the Corporate Relations function, focusing on either Public Policy or Public Relations activities.

The internship is for a fixed period of three months without extension.

Eligibility Criteria

• Only students in their 3rd or final year of study are eligible to apply. They should plan to continue their education once the internship concludes or be awaiting graduation.
• Candidates who have completed their education and spent over a year (12 months) since leaving school will not qualify for consideration.
• Applicants must be undertaking a bachelor’s degree or equivalent at a public or accredited private academic institution.
• You must be on break/holiday from school during the internship period.
• A dedication to completing the full 3-month internship program is mandatory.

Required Skills and Attributes

A successful intern is expected to demonstrate a high desire to gain professional experience and be exceptionally eager to learn and explore possibilities.

• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong listening skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to understand instructions; and a proactive approach (not being afraid to ask questions) are essential. Very articulate with fluent English is required.
• Technical Proficiency: Excellent knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications is needed.
• Professional Conduct: Must be patient, exhibit attention to detail, be a fast learner, committed, able to understand directions, and capable of working quickly and accurately under pressure.
• Career Development: Keen to learn about the markets and possess a high attention to detail and pride in their work at this initial stage of their career development.

Mandatory Documentation Requirements

1. Letter from your institution indicating you are a student there and/or require internship as part of course completion.
2. Personal Accident insurance cover for the duration of the internship.
3. Bank account details.
4. Copy of National Identity Card.
5. Copy of KRA Pin Certificate.
6. NSSF and SHA numbers.
