The Project Officer role is integral to supporting the design phase activities of the Veggies for Planet and People (V4P&P) project. The successful candidate will work within the V4P&P program and report directly to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitating county profiling and context analysis discussions with stakeholders, along with documentation.
- Facilitating county and regional workshops to effectively disseminate learnings acquired from the existing V4P&P project.
- Conducting comprehensive stakeholder mapping exercises at the county, regional, and national levels, focusing on the horticulture value chain using a rigorous systems approach.
- Documenting strategic entry points required for developing a robust multi-sectoral program, utilizing horticulture as the initial entry point/catalyst.
- Conducting engagements and awareness building activities, potentially using tools such as Foresight, centered around promoting the need for low-carbon, climate-proof, and safe production of horticultural crops to nourish Kenya's rapidly urbanizing population.
- Co-developing key knowledge products that will be employed in stakeholder convenings.
- Supporting the development of the proposal for the new V4P&P Program, intended for consideration by the IKEA Foundation to commence mid-2026.
- Providing essential support in report writing tasks for the current V4P&P project.
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Background
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, including Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Horticulture, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship. A Master's degree is considered advantageous.
- Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in implementing multi-faceted, multi-sectoral donor-funded development programmes, specifically utilizing a systems approach. This experience must demonstrate professional growth or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.
- Experience working in Kenya, with a deep understanding of the local context, cultural nuances, and development challenges being a significant advantage.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of academic and donor thinking in relevant thematic fields, including regenerative agriculture/agroecology, women and youth employment and entrepreneurship, and enterprise development.
- Technical knowledge and familiarity in specific topics of value chain development for smallholder farmer’s production, markets, food safety, food losses, and resilience.
- Demonstrable skills in agriculture market systems approaches and value chain development processes, including effective stakeholder engagement with public sector actors, research institutions, the private sector, and consumer organizations.
- Familiarity with the intersection between renewable energy and water security sectors with agri-food systems.
