Project Manager - Africa

Key Role Functions

Project Managers are resourceful team leaders responsible for managing the critical thinking and analytical horsepower that drives project teams. They act as the link between junior team members and Dalberg management, ensuring the delivery of creative ideas and concrete results for clients globally. Utilizing strong analytical skills and social acumen, Project Managers are savvy communicators who simplify complex findings, develop insightful recommendations, and structure communications to foster constructive dialogues with diverse stakeholders in the public sector, private sector, civil society, and international communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams in disaggregating complex problems and formulating comprehensive solutions to address them.
• Develop innovative strategies and sustainable solutions for our clients.
• Manage project work streams efficiently and provide clear direction to team members.
• Coach, manage, and support junior team members, fostering their growth.
• Oversee the quality control of all client deliverables.

Qualifications and Requirements

Typical qualifications for a Project Manager include:

• Master’s in Business Administration, Masters in Public Administration, Policy, or International Relations, or a PhD from a top university with an excellent academic record.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a manager at a leading international management consultancy firm, maintaining a ‘top performer’ status throughout tenure.
• Strong analytical abilities, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Ability to present information in an insightful and structured manner, both written and oral.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and thrive in an entrepreneurial atmosphere.
• A strong passion for international development, evidenced by prior exposure to global issues such as economic development, global health, education, or the environment.
• Experience living and working in different cultures; time spent in developing countries is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated professionalism and experience working effectively with senior officials in the public and/or private sector.
• Sensitivity to the political and cultural environments prevalent in international public agencies or similarly complex settings.
• Familiarity with data analysis, modelling, statistics, econometrics, and other analytical tools is a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrated fluency with English speaking and writing skills; proficiency with other languages is a plus.
