The Project Engineer is responsible for developing optimized, compliant, and cost-effective technical designs for Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Solar Water Pumping projects.
The role supports bidding and project development activities by preparing accurate engineering documentation, ensuring technical compliance, and aligning designs with client, donor, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Design Solar PV, BESS, and Solar Water Pumping systems for tenders and projects.
Prepare layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical calculations.
Optimize system performance, cost-efficiency, and technical compliance.
Technical Analysis & Component Selection
Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and technical assessments.
Evaluate and select suitable Solar PV, BESS, and electrical components.
Validate supplier specifications and maintain approved hardware lists.
Proposal & Compliance Support
Prepare technical proposals, bid documents, and compliance submissions.
Ensure adherence to international standards, donor requirements, and industry regulations.
Support technical reviews and tender clarification processes.
Project Support & Documentation
Conduct site assessments and provide technical support during project implementation.
Prepare and maintain technical drawings, reports, and engineering documentation.
Ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency across all project records.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with procurement, project, installation, and business development teams.
Support branch offices and contribute to smooth project execution.
Contribute to process improvements and stay updated on renewable energy technologies and trends.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform any other duties assigned to support operational efficiency and project success.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Valid EPRA T3 certification.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Solar PV and BESS system design and engineering.
Experience preparing technical proposals and documentation for international tenders including World Bank, UN Agencies, AfDB, and similar organizations.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with PVSol, Homer Pro, or other simulation and sizing tools is an added advantage.
