Role Overview
The Program Assistant supports field-level implementation, routine monitoring, and data management for the School Feeding Program and related sustainability initiatives. The role ensures accurate data capture, compliance at the school level, and timely reporting of field activities.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Implementation Support
Support implementation of school feeding activities at assigned schools in line with approved plans.
Support coordination of food delivery processes at the school level, including receipt and basic verification.
Assist in organizing field activities and stakeholder engagements.
Support implementation of school-level sustainability activities related to the Sustainable School Meals Project (SSMP) with coordination from the SSMP Project Officer, including establishment, monitoring, and providing technical support on kitchen gardens, crop farming, and poultry rearing.
Reporting, Monitoring, and Evaluation
Participate in writing activity, quarterly, and annual reports to inform progress.
Maintain and update beneficiary and school records (enrollment, feeding data, contacts).
Conduct regular school monitoring visits to ensure implementation is on track, including timely food deliveries, food quality assurance, proper food storage, and utilization by schools.
Participate in the documentation of Program Change and Impact stories.
Consistently provide updates on available platforms concerning the implementation of the school feeding programme.
Participate in data collection for needs assessments, baselines, and impact assessments at the school and community levels.
Ensure all tools and trackers are used as required and kept up to date at all times.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement
Support engagement of internal and community stakeholders.
Ensure all program participants are familiar with the school feeding programme policies and procedures.
Actively participate in various stakeholder-related coordination meetings and forums as assigned.
Job Specification and Requirements
University Diploma or Degree in Food Security, Agronomy, Community Development, Nutrition, Social Work, or a related field.
At least two (2) years of demonstrated experience in a related field with progressively responsible roles in School Feeding, Agriculture, Community Development, or Education in Emergencies.
Knowledge and/or experience of agriculture and agronomy practices, especially targeting schools and surrounding communities.
Experience working in ASAL (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands) regions and communities is an added advantage.
A valid motorcycle riding license is highly desirable, along with the willingness and ability to ride a motorcycle to access project sites.
Demonstrated experience in detailed projects monitoring and reporting.
Comfortable utilizing data collection and reporting systems such as Kobo, ODK, Google Forms, and Excel/Sheets.
