Job Description
The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit 30 Privates for its Band unit. The NYS serves as a premier agency for youth empowerment in Kenya, focusing on helping the youth discover and develop their potential through comprehensive programs. This role is a permanent and pensionable position within the civil service framework.
Role Overview
This position involves serving as a musician within the NYS Band, requiring both musical proficiency and adherence to the discipline of a paramilitary organization. Successful candidates will be part of ceremonial duties, national events, and other official functions.
Terms of Service and Benefits
Salary and Allowances: As per the existing NYS Salary Scale.
Medical Cover: Provided under the Social Health Authority (SHA) Scheme of Civil Servants.
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
A minimum grade of D+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its approved equivalent.
Must have successfully undergone initial NYS Paramilitary Training.
Possession of a National Trade Test, Craft, or Diploma Certificate in Music or relevant band-related courses.
Must have a clean criminal record (Certificate of Good Conduct).
For those in the General Duty Cadre, a Senior Service Man/Woman (I and II) certificate is required.
